Branching into separate Team Project Issue

I have branched code folders from one team project into another team project's "Shared Code" folder. I have done this for two different projects. One works great and always references the correct project located in the Shared Code directory. However, during the process of "Add existing project" and choosing the problematic project in the shared code folder it initially looks correct. After closing the solution and reopening the project reference always resolves back to the original location in a completely separate team project, not the shared code project. Any ideas on where I can look to see what is causing this issue? Just to clarify further, one project has no issue, and one project always resorts back to the original non-branched location. Any ideas are much appreciated.

The issue ended up being the lack of "SP1" for VS.
